Description
Optimmune is a veterinary ophthalmic medication used to treat eye diseases in animals. The active ingredient, cyclosporine A, has immunosuppressive, anti-inflammatory, and lacrimomimetic properties, helping to restore the function of the lacrimal gland.
Indications for Use:
- Idiopathic keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS)
- Chronic superficial keratitis (pannus)
- Plasmacytic infiltration of the third eyelid
- As an alternative or adjunct to corticosteroids
Composition (per 1 g):
- Cyclosporine A – 2.0 mg
- White soft paraffin – 551.7 mg
- Corn oil – 426.3 mg
- Amerchol – 20.0 mg
Dosage Form:
Aluminum tubes of 3.5 g with a polyethylene applicator and screw cap.
Directions for Use:
Apply the ointment to the cornea or conjunctival sac twice daily (every 12 hours). The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the condition and response to therapy.
