Mirtazapine Transdermal Ointment is a medication for cats designed to stimulate appetite and manage unintended weight loss. It is especially effective for conditions accompanied by decreased appetite, such as chronic kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, inflammatory bowel disease, and pancreatitis.

Composition:

Inactive ingredients: polyethylene glycol 400, polyethylene glycol 3350, diethylene glycol monoethyl ether, caprylocaproyl macrogolglycerides 8, oleyl alcohol, butylated hydroxytoluene, dimethicone, tapioca starch, polymethylsilsesquioxane
Form and Dosage:
Ointment in 5 g tubes. Recommended dosage: apply a 1.5-inch ribbon (approximately 2 mg mirtazapine) to the inner surface of the cat’s ear once daily for 14 days, alternating ears.
Method of Application:
Use disposable gloves before application. Apply the ointment to the inner, hairless surface of the ear. Avoid contact between the cat and people or other animals for 2 hours after application. Discard gloves after use and wash hands thoroughly.

Contraindications and Precautions:
Do not use in cats with known hypersensitivity to mirtazapine or any of the components. Do not use concurrently with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of their use. Use with caution in cats with liver or kidney dysfunction. Safety has not been established for kittens under 6 months, cats weighing less than 2 kg, or pregnant or lactating cats.
Storage Conditions:
Store at temperatures below 25°C. Use opened tubes within 30 days.
