Visiocare – An Effective Treatment for Eye Diseases in Dogs
Visiocare is an ophthalmic ointment designed to treat autoimmune eye diseases in dogs. It helps reduce inflammation, alleviate discomfort, and restore natural tear production.
Indications
- Keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS) – A condition characterized by insufficient tear production due to immune system damage to the lacrimal glands. Symptoms include itching, burning, irritation, and light sensitivity.
- Chronic superficial keratitis (pannus) – A chronic inflammation of the cornea and sclera, leading to pigmentation and blood vessel growth, which may result in blindness.
How Visiocare Works
The ointment contains cyclosporine, an immunosuppressant that inhibits T-lymphocyte activity and prevents inflammatory processes. This reduces damage to the lacrimal glands and increases tear production. Thanks to microemulsion technology, the ointment spreads evenly over the eye surface, ensuring maximum effectiveness.
Composition
- Active ingredient: Cyclosporine A
- Additional components: Soft paraffin, corn oil
How to Use
- Apply the ointment into the conjunctival sac twice daily (every 12 hours).
- Long-term treatment is required – the medication helps control symptoms but does not cure the condition.
- If a dose is missed, apply it as soon as possible unless it is time for the next scheduled application.
Side Effects
In rare cases, mild irritation, redness, increased blinking, or eye rubbing may occur.
Contraindications
Do not use Visiocare if your dog has:
- An allergy to cyclosporine or any of the ingredients
- A fungal or viral eye infection (may worsen or prolong the infection)
- Corneal ulcers (the ointment may slow healing)
- Pregnancy or lactation
- Other ophthalmic medications without veterinary consultation
